Thing 23
I really had a great journey doing 23 things. I actually knew a lot more then I thought, but I found a lot of great tools that I can use in my professional, and social life. When completing thing 1, I was so excited to start using technology in my classroom, and after thing 22, I was just as excited. I learned how easy it all really is. I think a lot of people are scared of technology, and feel that it is way over their heads. I have already started using more technology in my own classroom. Even though I have special education students, I have found some great youtube videos, and my whole class has shared watching them together. I have also got my husband involved with wikis, and he is going to create one for his job too! I hope to contintue to explore all the tools 23 things have given me, and I am so happy for this experience!

I think it is so fun to use a wiki! A wiki gives you a lot of different tools that your blog doesn't have, but they are very much alike. I think that if you have a lot of informatiot o give, you should use a blog, but if it is about a specific topic, and for specific users, a wiki is best!

I loved reading about Woodward Academys Wiki. They were reading Turn Homeward, Hannalee, and it gave a bunch of information about what hey were doing. I think This would be great for my students parents to use at home, so they know what is going on in out classroom. Wiki is a great tool, but you just have to make sure you have time for the ipkeep, and keep people interested and involved. I don't think much would get in the way, it is a great online tool!

I suscribed to Eric James Wolf's, the Art of storytelling. I actually already has itunes on my computer, so this thing was very easy for me! I love itunes, and all the it offers!

I love this podcast about how to tell stories to children. He is a great author, and it is really cool to listen to! I listen to podcasts all the time. My husband is a poker player, and listens to the pros talk all about there hands, and what they do in certain situation. It is really fun and educational.

What did you like about the presentation you embedded? How might Slideshare be useful in the classroom? out of the classroom?
Below is my shared slide show. I loved the presentation I embeded. As a mom of a two year old, I love learning how to keep him 100% healthy. Slideshare could be very useful in my own classroom. I can look up video that are going along with what I am teaching, adn we can watch them. Out of school I can use them at home, if I am doing any research for my autism masters program!

I LOVE Remember the Milk. I would def. use this on my own. As a first year teacher, wife, mom of a two year old, and master degree student...I have a LOT going on! I am always making lists, but I still always manage to forgot something. I am always on the internet, so this site would do a lot of good for me. It gives you SO many options to remember your life, and what is going on. I am joining right now, and I can't wait!

How might you use this tool in your personal and professional life? What issues come to mind about using this tool with students (ie, they need email addresses to log-in)?
I thought this was a lot of fun~ I would def. use this in my personal life. I use a spread sheet to do out weekly/yearly budget, and this would be very helpful to me and my husband. I could yet again not use this in my own classroom, because my students do not have email addresses, and are not yet computer littert, but this is a very useful tool for me to use at home.

My delicious username is twostep1892. I turly don't think I personally can use this in my own classroom. I teach special education students, and they are not cognitively ready for this type of system yet, but I do think it would be great for older studnets to use.

Share your thoughts about tagging. Is tagging a useful way to organize your digital resources and why? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages? What is important to think about before assigning tags to bookmarks or other Internet content?
I think tagging is a great idea. I am part of livejournal, an online blogging system, and I love looking through tags. I am able to find tipics I want to know more about, in a timely fashion. It is very organized, and helps me be a quick online user. I think you need to make sure you are tagging your things correctly, so you have all of your ducks in a row.

I don’t really like leaving comments, unless it is to say how great someone is doing. I feel weird leaving comments to strangers, and I still have internet fear. With the world so dangerous no a days, you have to be extra careful who you are posting to…I also think it is very important to post comments, to keep the online blog community going. No one is going to want to continue blogging if they don’t get comments. Then they feel like no one is readying it, and then what is the point? I think students just need to be very careful when sharing there writing, and make sure to protect themselves. It is a crazy world out there!

I used keepvid as a download tool for my viddeo. I posted some laughing babies...They were just so cute, and cheered me up! This was a bit hard for me, but now that I have the hang of it, it seems very fun and easy to do!

I love YouTube! Even before this assignment, I have been searching up funny videos. It is just so entertaining, and it is so fun to post even my own family videos to share. It is a great tool for teaching. Not only are there funny videos, but there are also educational ones out there. Just last week in my masters class we watched a video on youtube, that corresponded with our weekly lesson. Youtube it NOT restricted in our building, and we use it daily!
